LZ4 1.10.0 for ArmadaMMX Linux Official upstream source, unmodified. Single-thread CLI for Pentium MMX/i586, with embedded LZ4 library code and dynamic musl 1.2.6. No external liblz4.so. Build profile: -O2, -march=pentium-mmx -mtune=pentium-mmx, no SSE/SSE2/AVX. Stack protector, PIE, RELRO, immediate binding and non-executable stack enabled. No aliases, services, hooks, headers or shared libraries are installed. Common commands (choose new output names; no overwrite flag is required): /usr/local/bin/lz4 --version /usr/local/bin/lz4 --help /usr/local/bin/lz4 -B4 input output.lz4 /usr/local/bin/lz4 -t output.lz4 /usr/local/bin/lz4 -d output.lz4 restored /usr/local/bin/lz4 -B4 -c input > output.lz4 /usr/local/bin/lz4 -dc output.lz4 > restored cat input | /usr/local/bin/lz4 -B4 -c > output.lz4 Shell redirection may truncate an existing destination before LZ4 starts. Always choose a new destination. Prefer explicit input/output arguments to get LZ4's own overwrite refusal. Use sha256sum before/after when validating files. -d is the alternative to unlz4; -dc is the alternative to lz4cat. No symlinks. -t verifies supported LZ4 frame checksums; it does not authenticate the sender. Memory: -B4 explicitly selects 64 KiB compression blocks. Upstream default is unchanged at block ID 7 (4 MiB). In tested 8 MiB datasets, B4 used markedly less process RSS, but compression speed/ratio varied; mixed data compressed much worse with small independent blocks. No universal ratio/speed promise. -B4 is a compression setting, not a decoder memory cap for incoming B7 frames. RSS excludes reclaimable filesystem page cache and other system services. No physical Compaq memory/runtime measurements have been made for this build. Check available RAM and disk space before large jobs; do not rely on zram. Avoid the built-in -b benchmark (can buffer input), legacy output -l and extreme compression levels on the 32 MiB notebook unless measured separately. Normal Frame streaming is the tested path for files larger than RAM. Legacy decoding was checked only with a small official 1.9.4 legacy sample, not every old format. Multithreading was disabled at build time with HAVE_MULTITHREAD=0 and HAVE_PTHREAD=0; LZ4IO_MULTITHREAD=0. -T or LZ4_NBWORKERS cannot enable workers. No pthread dependency, resident service or kernel/zram modification. Licensing: CLI/programs GPL-2.0-or-later; lib directory BSD-2-Clause. Complete corresponding upstream source plus external build/package scripts accompany this release separately.
